There is little average temperature difference in the winter months between the piedmont and the mountain valleys; however, the peaks are both colder and windier in the winter. Although the average relative humidity is lower in Atlanta than in the Blue Ridge, the total amount of both rain and snow in these mountains easily beats the nearby city.
