The Efficient Budget Traveller

flight11Most of us are on a strict budget for our holidays. Budget travel is very common, and a great way to keep from spending money in unnecessary places. For example, for the same plane tickets one person buys, you can find at half the price with a little research and savvy hunting.

If you are doing a flight search, you often go straight to the comparative websites such as travelocity or orbitz. These sites are designed to do the hunting for you, finding all the major airlines and comparing prices on one page for easy choosing. However, there are some tips, or tricks of the trade if you will, to help you save even more. You may think that typing in your location and return date is all you need, but you can save even more if you take your time with the process. It’s not a well known fact that these deals can change every hour. Which means if you just hunt around long enough, you may come across one at noon that wasn’t there at 8am. It is important to check through out the day, and keep your eye open for the cheapest price. Doing this for a couple days will give you a good idea of the best price possible, so you know you’re getting the best deal.

Cutting Cost when you Travel

cheap-travelA vacation, a business trip or simply trying to clear your mind, there are several different reasons why one would choose to travel from his or her home to another place. Travelling has always been a part of people’s lives as it can create special memories and wonderful times. However some people, or most people for that matter, find it difficult to travel nowadays because of the fact that airline tickets have become very costly. Fortunately, there is a way to find bargain tickets so that you can travel with a lighter wallet.

One way to search for cheaper airline tickets is to check on early morning flights or after midnight flights. These are usually the undesired flights due to their schedule so the ticket price for them can be a steal. Being flexible with your time and your schedule can go a long way with saving money on travel expenses.

Shopping for airline tickets over the internet can also have its advantages. Most promos and packages can be found over the internet plus booking in advance would always allow you to grab great discounts on your tickets. Also, try to avoid summer months when you want to take a vacation because these are the months where airline tickets are the highest. Plus, summer months would bring a lot of people to the airports as well. This would not only cost you more money but the number of people who are travelling along with you can make things uncomfortable with long lines and long delays.

Travelling Without Overspending

eurosTravel should not necessarily entail putting a dent on your credit card or emptying your savings account.  You can enjoy travelling without having to overspend.  Take time to read the following travel tips on how you can save yourself from incurring unnecessary expenses.

1. Set a budget for the whole trip- Although it appears to be a daunting task, planning for a budget can be achieved if you have the right motivation and a sound mindset.  If you are travelling for pleasure, make a list of the things you need to buy such as air tickets and such and a list of the things you want to buy and bring back from your travel then decide what you want the most to make sure you do not go over your budget.

2. Rid yourself of temptations- So you cannot help but go into stores and look around and it is understandable that you will be tempted to spend beyond your means. This can be avoided by bringing just enough cash on hand and leaving your major ATMs at home.  Also, bring only 1 or 2 credit cards, those that have very low credit limit.

3. Gifts are appreciated but not necessary- It is half expected by your family and friends at home that you will bring back something for them from your travel.  Think of presents that are cheap yet very useful.  Cliché as it may sound, the saying it’s the thought that counts will save you a lot of money in the process.
