Waiting for the Weekend to Come

How many times have you been sitting there, watching the clock and waiting for the day to end so you can start doing what you want to do? Well now is the time to stop wishing and start doing, for time is always a-wasting.

One solid way to make sure you are treating yourself well, is to always make sure you make the most of your time. You might use weekend breaks as a time to reconnect to old friends and loved ones, or maybe just to get away on your own for a little while.

Weekend trips can be great to just recharge your internal batteries, and find some additional energy to be able to tackle you day. The energy it takes to hate your job is more wearing and tiring than you realize, so the sooner you dump that baggage, the better off you’ll be for sure.

If you can’t afford to travel far during a weekend trip understand that you can likely visit another part of your own home town and still find ways to make it really fun. The important thing is often not where you are going necessarily, but what you’ll do once you get there. The best things for you might not be the best things for your friends and family, so choose your weekend travelling companions wisely.

Ultimately, if you are the type that needs an occasional reminder of better things, a weekend holiday is a smart and simple way to keep things under control.

The Netherlands offers an Old Zoo

The Netherlands offers an Old Zoo

There are travelers who will visit many zoos as they travel to new countries or states.  These travelers love animals and make a point to locate the nearest zoo to take a look.  If you are going to Amsterdam and want to see their zoo, you can look online before you go to located Artis Zoo.  It was founded in 1838 and is said to the Netherlands oldest zoo.

Near the zoo is the Hotel Barbacan Amsterdam in a residential area and although it is a two star hotel, it offers the same facilities as a three star.  There are other hotels nearby that you can check out to make your choice.  Once you are settled in your accommodations and ready to explore, you can head to the zoo for a day of enjoying the charming atmosphere and natural beauty.  This is a popular destination for families where they can stroll around to see the hundreds of animals on exhibit.

Not far from the zoo are museums and a planetarium that the whole family will enjoy.  Families find a walk in a zoo relaxing after a day of sight seeing and exploring a new country.

Lake Eyre is Australia’s Natural Wonder

Lake Eyre is Australia’s Natural Wonder

Lake Eyre is located in Southern Australia and at 49 feet below sea level is at the lowest elevation on the continent. It was named for Edward John Eyre, the first European to discover the lake. The depth and salinity of the lake is dependent on how much rainfall occurs. As the water level rises, it comes into contact with and dissolves a salt crust that increases salinity of the lake. At a depth of 13 feet, Lake Eyre is no more salty than the ocean but evaporation quickly causes it to become the world’s saltiest lake. Although the instances of Lake Eyre filling to its maximum depth are rare, on these occasions it is Australia’s largest lake. Lake Eyre National Park, South Australia’s first arid zone reserve, surrounds the lake and was established to protect its wilderness. Among a few of the many activities that can be enjoyed in Lake Eyre are nature watching, rowing and off road driving.

The vast expanse of the Lake Eyre Basin allows for fantastic off-roading opportunities. The area is fairly flat and generally dry, which makes it ideal for off road driving. In 1964, the basin’s near perfect driving conditions helped Donald Campbell set a new world record for top land speed when he reached 428 mph in his modified Bluebird.

Groups of sailors make use of Lake Eyre’s flooding episodes by hosting regattas. During the lake’s latest wet season, participants journeyed from all over Australia for the chance to boat on Lake Eyre. The event was so popular that it garnered world wide publicity.

Flooding in the Lake Eyre area sparks the growth of wildflowers and attracts congregations of millions of birds and other animals. As the lake fills with water, pelicans, cormorants, ibis and other birds assemble to breed. The Lake Eyre Dragon, a small comb-bearing reptile, also returns during rainy seasons. Even wild camels come to the lake, drawn by the presence of water. Because the lake fills so rarely and the filling episodes are unpredictable, the chance to observe the animals that flock to the lake can be a once in a lifetime activity.  Leslie from allpro.com

Cheap, not bad

Cheap, not bad

We live in a world where we immediately associate something expensive with it being high quality, and something cheap being bad. In fact, the term “cheap” can be used to say something is at a low price or that it is low quality. But the truth is things aren’t always this black and white. For example, you can stay at a five star hotel and it will surely be an amazing experience, and very expensive. But that doesn’t mean that cheap hotels are terrible places to stay at. Often, the difference between a cheap hotel and an expensive one is not in the quality of the service or the hygiene, like many people would think, but in the extra things that an expensive hotel has to offer.

An expensive hotel will have facilities like a spa, a pool, a gym, saunas and Jacuzzis, all available in the hotel and often free of charge. They will also serve quality, gourmet food and have services like room service available at all hours and valet parking, for example. A cheaper hotel will probably cut down on all of these services. So, in the end, it’s a matter of choice. If you plan on using all that the hotel has to offer, then stay in an expensive one. If you’re simply using to hotel as a place to sleep in, then go for the cheaper one and spend the money on something else in your holiday.

camp franceFrance is one of the most popular tourist destinations for travelers from all over the world. Everyone once to come and experience the romance and splendor of Paris. There are many ways you can do this. You can go the mainstream route, which is sipping wine in a fancy restaurant, sight seeing at the Eiffel tower, taking in the cobble stone streets and small cafes. However, if you’re looking for a more “off the beaten path” type of holiday, and are more of the adventurous type, this won’t be enough for you.

A great way to take in the wonders of France, is to camp there. Forget all the snobby hotels and tourist crowded areas, try something new and get a different perspective that most don’t see. Getting from the airport to your destination

airport-travelWe will assume that your trip went well, and you have your luggage. Now you have to leave the airport.

If you are not lucky enough to have family or friends to collect you, you have to find your way.

The easiest option is the airport or hotel shuttle.

In countries where there is a good public transport system, it is really easy to get around. Try to find small change before you leave, if not from the bank then from friends. The ticket machines need this change and you may end up having to buy a bottle of overpriced water to get a cheap ticket to travel. When you leave the country keep all the change you have for the next trip.

Taxis are convenient. Airport taxis are sometimes governed with a prescribed, if inflated tariff. Find out what the expected fee is so that you are not grossly over charged. Also research the route you should take. This could prevent the driver from taking you on a tour around the city to the destination which is only two blocks away. Ensure that the meter is working and they are not just charging you a random fee.

A hire car is another option.  These can all be booked on the internet and collected at the airport. Ensure you have your driver’s license and credit card to collect. You can check on the internet to see if you license is valid or whether you need an international license. Brush up on the rules of the road if different from yours.

When you return home, you can be on your way from the airport in no time at all. If you are parking at LAX for example, they have a system in place that allows you to collect your car very quickly.

Top 5 Reasons To Travel

lounger1. You earned it- You have been slaving over your work and putting in the extra hours and it is time for you to reap the rewards of hard work.  It is very important to maintain a well balanced life.  Overworking yourself without the rewards of unwinding to look forward to will only cause your physical and emotional wellbeing to deteriorate.  So pack those bag and travel to a small quaint island where you can have some alone time.  You will thank yourself for doing it.

2. Travel brings the family closer- If both you and your husband are career oriented people it may very well be possible that you hardly ever spend time with your kids.  Taking a trip together can remedy this situation.  A vacation getaway with your spouse and your kids is a good way to catch up on the things you have missed about your kids while you are working your way to the top of your profession. Never underestimate the power of sandy beaches and boat rides.

3. To rekindle romance between you and your spouse- If you have been married for a long time, you may start to feel that your relationship has hit a wall or that you are not as close as you were when you were just starting to date.  Surprise your husband or your wife with tickets to Cancun or Bermuda or anywhere with a romantic atmosphere so you can talk and reconnect with each other.

4. Travel is good for your damaged psyche- Travel is a good way to deal with depression.  Getting away for a little while will do you good in getting over whatever traumatic experience you just had.  Take a close friend with you or a family member if you do not want to travel alone.  Taking a trip will help refresh your spirits so you will be back in fighting form in no time.

5. Travel is good for the economy- Most households are cutting back on expenses because of the current economic climate.  This may seem sensible, but in a larger scale, it is better for the economy for people to spend because it creates a faster exchange of money for goods and services.  Travel related business will benefit a lot if people take more trips.
